POST RELEASE OF THE INTERNATIONAL SPECIALIZED EXHIBITION Photonica'2011. Lasers, Optics and Application

The Photonica'2011. Lasers, Optics and Application International Exhibition, successfully held from April 18 through April 21, 2011 in Pavilion No. 3 of Expocentre Fairgrounds, became a key event in the laser and optic industry. This unique event is co-organized by Expocentre and the Laser Association. German Exhibition Company Messe Munchen International and German company IMAG GmbH assisted in preparing and running the show. The exhibition was held with support and assistance from the European Optical Society, the Technological Center Association of German Engineers, the State Committee on Science and Technologies of Republic of Belarus and under the auspices of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Moscow City Government.

The Photonica. Lasers, Optics and Application Exhibition is the main industry event, a unique platform attracting experts, developers and manufacturers of laser and optoelectronic equipment from all over the globe to share experience and achievements, and start commercial activity. The exhibitions high status and prestige acquired within its six years in existence are confirmed by the logos of UFI - the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and RUEF - the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.

This year Photonica. Lasers, Optics and Application grew by 1.5 times bringing together to Expocentre Fairgrounds 149 companies from 12 countries: Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, China, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Republic of Belarus, Russia, USA, Ukraine, France and Sweden. Companies from Germany and China displayed their national expositions. French industrial parks debuted at Photonica.

95 domestic enterprises showcased Russia's achievements in laser and optoelectronic equipment at the exhibition. The Russian Academy of Sciences displayed a collective exposition for the first time.

The latest achievements in the field of laser equipment, optics and optoelectronics were allocated on the total area of 5,861 sq. m. The Photonica'2011. Lasers, Optics and Application exposition enjoyed 7,620 visitors, 97 % of whom were industry professionals. The total amount of visits made up 8,810.

At the exhibition official opening Laser Association President Ivan B. Kovsh mentioned steady growth of the Photonica show and treated this fact as evidence of the industry's favorable state. The exhibition became traditional and really international.

According to Vladimir N. Vasiliev, the Russian Optical Society President, Chairman of Photonica Technological Platform Coordinating Committee, the Photonica'2011. Lasers, Optics and Application exhibition booths displayed unique exhibits. The Photonica technological platform is among the first technological programs recently confirmed by the Governmental Commission on High Technologies which are entrusted for development of domestic industry, business and scientific research.

Companies from Germany are regular exhibitors in the Photonica Exhibition. They are planning to keep up the tradition in the future, as European Technological Platform Photonica 21 Secretariat Head Mr. Junge said at the opening ceremony. This year for the first time Germany presents a joint stand of medium-sized and small enterprises and higher education institutions of Germany.

In his speech Assistant to the Secretary General of the Hubei Province Mr. Tann positively stated that participation of Chinese companies in the exhibition boosted cooperation of Russian and Chinese enterprises in the laser industry.

Director of the Department on Business and Innovation Activity Development of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhail M. Vyshegorodtsev pointed out the Photonica show's high international authority and popularity. Mr. Vyshegorodtsev expressed his hope for a new department on business and innovation support within the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to have allowed cooperation with enterprises, first of all, with the Russian ones, not only within the exhibition, but also on business support programs.

This year at the exhibition stands, experts observed samples of high intelligent developments of the fifth and sixth technological generations which can be applied in many diverse fields. The exposition displayed laser sources and accessories; optical materials and the related processing technologies; fiber optics; laser equipment for cutting, welding, marking and for other materials processing technologies; laser-optic diagnostic and measurement equipment; night vision systems, optical and laser sights; optoelectronics, nanophotonics; optical systems for data recording, storage, processing and transfer; photon-based biomedical equipment; laser medicine and many other things. New technologies and projects were demonstrated by the exhibitors in the Presentation zone of the exhibition.

Participation of leading research centers, manufacturing enterprises of Russia and foreign countries ensures the exhibition's high status.

Such famous foreign companies as Hamamatsu, Jenoptik, Micos, IBSEN Photonics, Unioriental Optics, Standa, and others displayed their projects and new developments at Photonica'2011. Lasers, Optics and Application. The Imperx, Lap, Leybold Optics, Trioptics and other companies were debutants of the show.

Russia's achievements in developing laser and optoelectronic equipment were presented by 95 domestic enterprises, including Laserniy Center, IRE-Polus, Lomo, Electrosteklo, Vicon-STK, LRT, Solar LS, Technolaser and others. The Russian Academy of Sciences displayed a collective exposition for the first time.

The exhibition organizers worked out a rich business-related program which opened with a joint session of Coordinating §³ommittee on Presentation of the Russian Technological Platform Project Photonica and the Russian Federation Federal Assembly State Duma Expert Council on Development of Innovative System Institutions in the Russian Federation.

Within the exhibition there was held the Laser Association conference and a research and practice conference devoted to new domestic developments in the field of photonics.

Issues on small enterprises operation in the innovative sphere and prospects of the Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of laser equipment were discussed during a round table.

Professionals were offered to participate in various workshops. Well-known scientists, developers and experts held presentations and lectures.

The Photonica'2011. Lasers, Optics and Application Exhibition's last day saw announcement of results of the LAS contest for the best domestic development in the field of laser equipment and laser-optic technologies in 2011.

The Polyus Research and Development Institute (Moscow) was awarded with diplomas of 1st and 2nd degrees, Research and Development Enterprise VELIT OOO (Tomsk) was awarded with a diploma of 1st degree, the Zuev Institute of Atmospheric Optics of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science (Tomsk) became a laureate diploma in nomination Laser Radiation Sources and Other Components of Laser Systems. Research and Production Firm Pribor-T SSTU (Saratov) was awarded with a diploma of 1st degree in nomination Laser Equipment and Technologies for Industrial Materials Processing. Optosystems OOO (Troitsk) was awarded with a diploma of 1st degree, Tomsk State University received a diploma of 2nd degree in nomination Laser Equipment and Techniques for Medicine (contestant n.a. Oleg K. Skobelkin).

Diffraction JSC (Novosibirsk) and Mostcom OOO (Ryazan) were awarded with diplomas of 1st degree in nomination Laser Equipment and Technologies for Technical Measurements, Diagnostics and Processes Monitoring.                          

The next edition of the Photonica. Lasers, Optics and Application International Exhibition will be held in Expocentre from April 17 through April 20, 2012.
