19 / 01 / 2015

A special event will take place in January in Paris that is the launch of the International Year of Light. This event will be a kick off to a global initiative highlighting the importance of light and optical technologies in our daily lives, for the future, and for the development of society.

This International Year has been the initiative of a large consortium of scientific bodies together with UNESCO. It will bring together many different stakeholders including scientific societies and unions, educational institutions, technology platforms, non-profit organizations and private sector partners.

International community has recognized the importance of raising global awareness about how light-based technologies promote sustainable development and provide solutions to global challenges in energy, education, agriculture and healthcare. Light plays a vital role in our daily lives and is an imperative cross-cutting discipline of science in the 21st century. It has revolutionized medicine, opened up international communication via the Internet, and continues to be central to linking cultural, economic and political aspects of the global society.

The Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics 2015 exhibition (March 16-19, 2015, Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow) is a mirror of global advancement of light technology, which will present you the latest developments, closely connected with light technology, in medicine, agriculture, defense industry, metallurgy, telecommunication equipment, and many other laser and optic technologies that surround us in everyday life. In the framework of the Holography Salon we will show you achievements of Russian holography in information and protection areas. Laser show will demonstrate how light technologies are applied in the entertainment industry. Micro and Nanoholographic Systems will showcase its developments in this rapidly evolving industry.
