Photonics 2022 presents the latest developments in the laser industry

29 / 03 / 2022

Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics 2022, the 16th edition of the International Exhibition for Laser, Optical and Optoelectronic Technologies, has opened at Expocentre Fairgrounds today. The event is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO jointly with the Laser Association, under auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Photonics goes far beyond a sector-specific showcase. Laser technology is widely used in mechanical engineering, health care, agriculture, communication systems, transport and other critical industries.

The range of this year's exhibition is, as always, diverse and wide. The product sections include various areas of photonics: laser light sources and components, fibre optics, laser equipment, optoelectronics, nanophotonics, laser medicine, laser equipment for crop and nature management and many more.

This year, more than 100 companies take part in the exhibition. Among them there are leading enterprises in laser and optic production, dealers of major companies, R&D institutes, leading educational institutions in Russia and other countries. The exhibitors include: Azimut Photonics, BELOMO, IRE-Polus, Injekt, Lassard, Avesta-Project, OKB Bulat, Laser Components, Laser Center, Laserform, Termolaser, Uran, Shvabe, Smorgon Plant of Optical Machine-Tool Building and others.

The exhibition is supplemented by an extensive conference programme. In general, 24 scientific and practical conferences, meetings and panels will be held. The Meeting of the Expert Council on Photonics under the Russian State Duma Commission has opened the Photonics 2022 conference programme.

Opening the event, Ivan Kovsh, President of the Laser Association, noted that the meeting had originally been planned to focus on the status of imports and exports of photonics products, but a more topical issue emerged: "On the need to coordinate efforts to ensure that photonics technologies can be widely used in the country in the face of sanctions". "The idea is clear, - explained Ivan Kovsh. Today, it is quite difficult for our organisations to make equipment, which often requires imported components. On the other hand, we have to take all measures to prevent laser technologies from leaving our market, to expand their use in the country, to increase the demand for them and to be more diverse”. For this purpose, according to the President of the LAS, the active clear interaction of large and small enterprises in the laser industry of Russia is necessary.
