25 / 03 / 2015

From March 16 through 19, 2015 the 10th International Specialized Exhibition Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics 2015 successfully ran at Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow. The show was included in the list of the main events held by UNESCO in 2015 as part of the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies.

Russia’s key show for laser and optoelectronic technologies was organized by Expocentre and Laser Association. It was supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and ran under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“Presence of Russian companies in the German market and German companies in the Russian market testifies to great success of this show,” pointed out Klaus Nowitzki, Co-Manager of the Russian-German joint project on System of Regional Laser Centres in Russia. “Another measure of success is effective work of the entire network of Russian-German laser innovative centres, three of them participated in the trade show.”

At the Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics 2015 trade show 151 companies from 14 countries showcased their new developments and solutions. The total exhibition area amounted to 1,796 net sq m. Manufacturers from Germany and China organized group expositions to present their developments.

Among the exhibitors there were such well-known foreign companies as Hamamatsu, Keysight Technologies, Mahr GmbH, Limo Lissotschenko Mikrooptik, Optotech Optikmaschinen GmbH, Schott AG, Trumpf Laser- und Systemtechnik GmbH, Solar LS, NKT Photonics, Eksma Optics, Sino Galvo. Some companies took part in the show for the first time, among them Rosendahl Nextrom GmbH, QGLex, MDI Advanced Processing GmbH, and others.

This year 99 Russian companies showcased their products, among them OptoSystems, Bee Pitron, Laser Center, Esto, Avesta, Rostec, Shvabe, Siberian Branch of RAS, Crystaltechno, Vicon Standa, Fibertool, NPK SPP, Azimut Photonics, EuroLase. The show newcomers were Lamsystems, Zababakhin All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Technical Physics, Specpostavka, Smart Systems, Micro and Nanoholographic Systems, Special Systems, Special Technologies, Integrated Technologies, and other companies and enterprises.

A large exposition included state-of-the-art developments and solutions implemented in a wide range of devices to be commercialized as well as promising innovations used in futuristic technologies. The show subjects were devoted to laser radiation sources and components; optical materials and technologies; optical elements, fiber optic equipment; night vision equipment, optoelectronics, nanophotonics; biomedical equipment based on photonic technologies; laser medicine, and photoelectronics.

The Holography Salon, which was first arranged at the show, generated great interest among the industry experts. The Salon participants displayed accomplishments of the Russian holography applied in data storage and security.

Exhibitors also demonstrated the latest technique of additive manufacturing: creation of objects by laying down successive layers of material. They showed how to apply additive manufacturing or 3D printing.

The trade show was accompanied by the major industry Forum. Its participants discussed the main trends in each sector of the photonics market and found interested partners and customers.

The 4th Congress of the Russian Technology Platform “Photonics” featured 11 research and practice conferences. They were devoted to such subjects as Laser Technology and Procedures in Manufacturing Industries, Photonic Nanotechnologies, Laser Diodes and Light Emitting Diodes, Photonics in Navigation and Geodesy, Element Base of Photonics, Photonics in Agriculture and Environmental Management, Application of Optical and Electronic Technology, and many others.

The conference participants considered the best projects which the Russian Technology Platform “Photonics” offered to relevant ministries and departments for further practical application. The industry experts told about laser application in different fields from measuring instruments, micro and radio electronics to plant biotechnology.

The topics discussed on the third day of the Forum were Optical Communications and Telecommunications, Laser Emission Control, Laser Information Systems, and Photonics in Scientific Research. There was held conference and presentation on Russian Holography: Information, Safety, Art.

The Forum participants took part in the round table discussions on Capabilities of Support for Photonics Developments in Russian Development Institutes and Using Laser Equipment in Medicine: Clinical Practice and National Needs.

The event program featured the presentation of the Eurasian Platforms “Photonics” and “LED Technology”.

Representatives of Laser Association summed up the results of the competition for Russia’s Best Laser and Optical Technology Development in 2015.

This year the winners in different nominations were NPP Inject (Saratov), Avesta (Moscow), Fedal (Saint Petersburg), Kuntsevo Design Bureau (Moscow), RPF Pribor-T of Yuri Gagarin State Technical University of Saratov, Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Technology Center (Saint Petersburg), Laser Hardening Innovative Technologies (Vladimir), Polyus Research Institute of M. Stelmakh (Moscow), and Almaz-Antey (Moscow).

The total number of visits to the show for four days amounted to 10,880. It is the highest figure over the entire history of the trade show. This anniversary year Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics beat all possible records.

The next Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics 2016 exhibition will run on 14-17 March 2016 at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
