Events of the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies held in Russia. What is prepared by ITMO University?
The UN General Assembly proclaimed 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies focusing on light science, optics and light-based technologies, which are vital for our daily lives and future development of the global community.
ITMO University, which has carried out research in photonics and light-based technologies and trained high skilled specialists since the middle of the 20th century, is one of the main organizers of the events held as part of the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies.
The aim of the event program of the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies in Russia is to create conditions and organize events showing relevance of light, light phenomena, and light-based technologies for each person and society as a whole.
The program features the Optics 2015 International Conference of young researchers and professionals, master classes from leading light companies, and a number of other seminars and workshops.
Among the ongoing events IMTO University will hold the competition for the best poster, Russian-wide student competition in optical engineering, the competition in computer science and programming for secondary school students, and the international seminar on optics. IMTO University will also participate in the Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics 2015 trade show, which is included in the list of events held in the frames of the International Year of Light 2015.
