International Specialized Exhibition - Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics’2014

The largest innovation-oriented industry event - the 9th International Specialized Exhibition Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics - took place on March 25-27, 2014 at Expocentre Fairgrounds. The trade fair was organized by Expocentre ZAO in cooperation with the Laser Association.

The exhibition enjoyed support from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Moscow City Government, State Committee on Science and Technologies of the Republic of Belarus, European Optical Society, and Association of German Engineers Technology Centre. The tradeshow ran under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The project carries labels of UFI - the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry and RUEF - the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.

This year the exhibition figures have broken its last year record. 165 companies from 12 countries: Belarus, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and the USA took part in the Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics’2014 exhibition. Manufacturers from Germany and China presented their developments in their national pavilions.

In 2014 the net show floor has reached its all-time peak and accounted for 1,897 sq m.

The latest developments, solutions and innovations were showcased by the leading overseas companies, among them Ohara GmbH, Ocean Optics, Limo Lissotschenko Mikrooptik, Trumpf Laser, Altechna UAB, Leybold Optics (Buhler AG), Hamamatsu Photonics, Cutting Edge Coatings Gmbh, Llc Optomet, Omicron Laserage Laserprodukte Gmbh, Optotech Optikmaschinen Gmbh, Scanlab Ag, Schneider Gmbh & Co. Kg, Schott Ag, Sill Optics Gmbh & Co. Kg, Synrad Division (Gsi Group Europe Gmbh), LEDigma, II-VI Deutschland, NKT Photonics, Light Tec. and others.

This year 91 Russian companies and enterprises presented their products, among them Schwabe, Roselectronics, Azimut Photonics, Photonics NPK, Uran, Optosystems, Avesta-Project, Laser Center, Laser Components, Bulat, Lasertrack, Electrosteklo, LRT, Eurolase, UE-International, Eurotek General, Perm Research and Production Instrument Company, Agilent Technologies, Melytec, SPP NPK, Alfa TM, Special Systems, Nanointek, Soltek, Camera IQ and many others.

The exhibition was devoted to laser radiation sources and their completing parts; optical materials and processing technologies; optic components, fiber optic equipment; night vision devices, optoelectronics, nanophotonics; biomedical equipment using photonics technologies; laser medicine; photoelectronics and much more.

The joint session on Technology Platform: Role in Implementing Industry Road Map, arranged by the interdepartmental work group on photonics under the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and Photonics Technology Platform Coordinating Committee, opened the programme of business-related events.

Eleven business conferences were held within the exhibition. A variety of topics testifies to a limitless potential of laser and optic technologies which cover almost all the spheres of the modern society.

Presentation of Eurasian Technology Platform Photonics was first arranged at the Photonics’2014 exhibition. The first joint project was a draft concept of a rapid development of photonics high technologies in the real economy of EurAsEC countries.

The 19th meeting of the Laser Association and a round-table discussion on Regional Laser Centers: Best Practices and Development Potential were held within the trade fair.

Representatives of the Laser Association announced the winners in the Competition for the Best Development Award in laser equipment and laser technologies in 2014 and in the first Competition for the Best Innovation Project Award among the defense industry organizations (Photonics industry-based stage).

The Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics’2014 exhibition generated a great interest in the industry experts. Over 9,400 visitors attended the exhibition for 3 days.

Next year the Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics’2015 exhibition will celebrate its 10th anniversary. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, actually the Year of Photonics.  

Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics’2015 exhibition will run on 24-26 March 2015 at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
