Head of Secretariat, Technological Platform “Photonics 21” Dusseldorf - Bruxels Dr. Holger Junge welcomes Photonics'09 participants

07 / 04 / 2009

Dear participants and visitors
of the Photonics 2009 exhibition at Moscow Expocentre!

I would like to greet you in the name of the European Technology Platform Photonics21 and wish you successful and interesting work at the exhibition!

The world economic crisis demands from us response measures - we should use less energy and materials and employ actively the automation potential provided by information technologies. We should improve the accuracy of medical diagnostics and effectiveness of medical treatment, as well as in-crease productivity of agriculture and improve transportation systems. Laser and optical technologies play the most important role in all this tasks. Accord-ing to the opinion of the EU experts, photonics is a major driving force behind the innovative development of the modern economy. This high-tech branch is fast developing and creating new technologies, products and jobs in many other branches as well.

Russian scientific schools as well as Russian engineers have and are con-tributing massively to the technological and scientific progress in all branches of the modern photonics. European institutions and companies hold the leading positions in whole ranges of laser optical products and technologies. We believe that out cooperation in this field is mutually useful and beneficial and we should expand and strengthen it.

Both the Photonics 2009 exhibition in Moscow and the Laser World of Photonics 2009 exhibition in Munich have helped a lot to our contacts, and I am deeply grateful to their organisers for these events.

I wish all participants and visitors of the Photonics 2009 exhibition great success, interesting meetings and promising projects.

Dr. Holger Junge
