30 / 03 / 2021

Today an official opening ceremony of Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics 2021, the 15th Anniversary International Exhibition for Laser, Optical and Optoelectronic Technologies, took place at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds.

The exhibition is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and the Laser Association (the CIS) with support of the European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC) and the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, under auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The exhibition is attended by leading manufacturers of laser and optical products and dealers of major companies. The achievements of the exhibitors are presented in the thematic sections, which include various areas of photonics development: laser radiation sources and components, optical materials and elements, fibre optic equipment, laser equipment, control and measurement equipment, optoelectronics, nanophotonics, laser medicine, biophotonics, security and safety systems, and much more.

Opening the exhibition, Anna Sadovnichaya, Deputy Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO, noted that Photonics always attracts a large number of representatives from various areas of the real sector of the Russian economy and is an effective working platform.

This year, more than 150 companies from Armenia, Austria, China, Finland, Germany, Japan, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia, and the USA are showcasing their developments and original solutions," said Anna Sadovnichaya. “The products of foreign manufacturers are presented by their Russian partners. We would especially like to note that, despite a challenging 2020, this year's exhibition has almost achieved pre-pandemic figures in terms of both space and number of exhibitors. We would like to thank all our exhibitors for their loyalty to Photonics”.

Andrey Vetluzhskikh, member of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship, said that "we are proud of the achievements that we have in Russian photonics. Today we are leaders, and that is why we cannot stop, we have to work for the benefit of people, for the benefit of the country.

Ivan Kovsh, President of the Laser Association, spoke about the extensive accompanying programme of the exhibition. "There will be more than 160 presentations in different areas of photonics," he said. “This industry gathering is very important because it will help us to make the right decisions and draw the right documents for the development of Russian photonics.

Yuri Mikhailov, Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation and Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation, emphasised that "today's exhibition takes place in the year declared by the President as the Year of Science and Technology. This 15th anniversary Photonics exhibition certainly shows that the industry is developing at a rapid pace in our country. One of the most important things of today's exhibition will be its practical orientation, and not just a demonstration of scientific and technical achievements.

Dmitry Kurochkin, Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted the large number of foreign exhibiting companies. "We are happy about it. I must say that there is no decline in cooperation with our colleagues either in the East or in the West, as far as chambers of commerce and industry are concerned. We are still confidently implementing many joint projects. Including in the scientific and technical sphere," said Dmitry Kurochkin.

The Photonics 2021 exhibition runs till April 2.
